Embracing a Photography Title and a New Year!!!!!

Until now, the news of my official photography name has been painstakingly contained within me. I decided, today, right now, as the last moments of 2008 ebb away and we usher into a new year, that I would declare this happy news on my blog:

~Crooked Stream Photography~

It's out now! But I wanted to share the story behind it...because it blesses me so.

For a while now, I've been praying for a suitable and very significant name for my art. I desperately wanted to use something dear to my heart, creative, clean sounding, and expressing what the Lord has done through this thing called photography. I knew using your own name as a title is a classic thing photographers do, but it just didn't quite match my wishful ideals. Besides, it's not me, it's the Lord, Who is working in me...and that's what He showed me:

My name means "Crooked Stream", and over the years, that has been a treasure to me. I have realized that I am crooked, and the Lord is the straight path that I desperately desire to follow. He is leading me to His glorious City, to be like Him. And when He revealed to me what I need to call my photography, I knew it was the most perfect answer in the entire world. Even down to the verse that I tag right along with Crooked Stream Photography shows His love and care for every detail: "There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God..." Psalms 46:4

In closing, it is my prayer, with all of my heart: to make glad the city of God!
Love, Kami
In only a few hours...HAPPY 2009!!!!!

Whispering Roses - Artsy Shots

We arrived at the mansion, along with very stormy and extremely foggy weather...It made for some good Dickens looking pictures. ;)

A Charming Photo Shoot with the Whispering Roses

...Or, actually, more like a photo shoot with the charming Whispering Roses!

A musical family of 7 who do such delightful performances together, but also feature the four sisters who have formed a Celtic group named, "The Whispering Roses". I was hired to take their portraits and performance pictures last week! The Lord very graciously blessed the day, even considering the areas that gave us some undesired, last minute surprises. No matter how prepared I arrive to a shoot, I must always be ready for quick changes. It's just an inevitable part of photography... I must say, this family was so wonderful to work with, as you will see...

The Football Shots

So, I asked Will, "What position do you play in football?" ...because I wanted to get pictures of him doing what he usually does for his games... This is what happened:

Wow, that was sure tons of fun! haha

~The "Foursome" Photos~

The Lord has brought wonderful people across my photography path. Being hired to take family portraits has been a great joy to me. I love working with people, I love little children- making them smile...and even better: make them laugh! :) Each family is so unique, and I love getting those "creative brainstorms" while watching them and how they relate to life and their family.

Let me introduce the R. kids.
A very hilarious bunch they are. We all had a blast!!

Check back for their individual portraits!~*~

A Post Especially for Fall!!!

It's Been Spectacular!!!
I don't ever remember a Fall as gorgeous as this...
The calm, crisp weather, the vibrant colored trees...
And the best gatherings with family and friends that just warm my heart on a freezing day!
Mom peaked out the front window the other day, and was so touched to see her own little "army medic" and "patient" contently playing in the great outdoors...or wait, he's 100% soldier! Annie is playing 100% "wounded". And Baby Beretta is just hangin' out...

During the end of October was an Apple Cider Press...Let me tell you, it stood out like a good old black and white picture from days gone by. The bond of fellowship, productivity, and love for family...was so refreshing.

And there was...Pie! A Pie contest...

Caber tossing...

David and Keslie came up to celebrate Keslie's 19th birthday! It was so fun and...delicious. ;) I made her a surprise birthday cake and we stopped at Eastpoint Seafoods to pick up some Oysters to cook over the campfire!

Another special event this Fall was a Mother and Daughter Tea...

Lovely all the way around-

Time with Mom and Annie. Speakers. Tea! Luncheon. And photo ops! :) ~~~~~~~~
Yesterday, I tried my hand at dipping beeswax candles! Thanks to the info I found on this blog from my search for instructions:

It wasn't very hard after all!!! I loved it~So fun!

I must stop now...I've got to stop somewhere! We just had so many things going this Fall, and of course on my end, that's always resulting in tons of pictures!

I'm anxious to pack my bags, and head out to see D&K and the rest of our "new" family... ;) Until I return to blogosphere~Kami
